Sunlight, Sunlight

Sunlight, Sunlight

A Poem by David Keagan

Sunlight, Sunlight,
Come unto me and touch my skin.
Your warmth is like a grace,
Countering the ice in my veins.
As a child you've created memories of running through sprinklers and summer pool parties,
Come unto me and make me whole again.
I've become lost in old man Winters bitter chill,
Bones frozen to the marrow.
In the nights I hide in my shelter in fear that the clouds will overtake you once again.
Look what it has done to your work!
The green grass, fruitful harvests, and once blossomed perenials,
shrivle and bow down to the cold's death clutch.
At last, reassure to me that you're still here,
My friend, my savior,
Sunlight.

A wonderful recluse to the dreaded winter this year...Everything about the subject is warm n nice except the very hot August's..I like how you chose to take a journey with sunlight and associated it with all that is good..happy memories and moments to recall it to escape the chill..It's almost like calling a friend..I like that this could be both direct and a metaphorical write and fit so well..

Your calling is like a gentle prayer, longing for that warmth.. that beautiful place of sunlit peace... On a cold wnter's day, this was an absolutely perfect read.

I hate winter. I was just thinking how much I hate winter when I stumbled across your poem here. I like how you brought it round and ended where you started. Also enjoyed how this is like a prayer to the sunshine almost, gave it a touch of divinity.
