Waiting in the Night

Waiting in the Night

A Poem by David Keagan
"

Shorter poem I've written

"

My hands are shaking, my body trembling as wait like kid at a candy shop,

 For Her.

I sit under the tree hoping she will notice and not walk on by,

Wearing my fresh new clothes, and my clean shaven face,

Looking at my wrist and then to the sky I start to turn frightened.

I look like a dog with his tail tucked away, guilty of something.

Have my demons from my past come back to tenfold,

What do the gods have in store for me now?

Is this for turning down so many before, am I a person waiting for bad judgment?

I hope today is not the day I go on trial for all my mishaps.

As my body starts seeping water, I hear the words,

Hey, Sorry I’m late,

My heart sores like Fourth of July, My face lights up

My stomach tensions ease, as I smile kindly and say,

I had only just got here.

This is cute... and very true... your first line is a little shakey but after that it is completely adorable. I hope it all worked out with her.
