Before I Go

Before I Go

A Poem by David Keagan
"

Non-ryhming type of freestyle poem I've written over a man's choice to battle and a women's burden on heart.

"

I say unto you that it is my destiny,

To weild my weapon and join my brothers.

My kiss embraces your lips,

Rather than a hug for assurance.

Fore many women like yourself,

Stand before their men teary eyed and heavy hearted,

Over the game we men feel entitled to.

War is in our roots.

But do not be afraid or concerned as i board this one way combat plane,

I'm an American soldier.

My new title,

My new name.

This is great. Another good one, by the amazing and well know author Dav. :-) I really like this and just the reference to a soldier and his destiny in being one. It is truly an amazing piece. :-)

David, I love this! It is exactly what happens again and again as our soilders go to war for us. Thank you for this lovely, lovely reminder of what our military famlies endure on behalf of the rest of us. I was raised in a military family. My dad was in WWII and retired as a major in the Army when I was in college. He earned two purple hearts, the Victory medal and a Bronze Star in Luzon, Phillippines for his bravery. I wrote of his experiences in war in 'I Wish I Had Asked". I can't wait to read much more of your work this evening. Christy
