God has become a creation of man, who uses God to avoid responsibility for his own behavior... Faith is so much more than the rituals and rhetoric. Well done, Peter!
In monotheism there's two Gods. The God of the Orthodoxy and the God of the mystics. The God of the orthodoxy is the God of tribes, rules and wars. You can find him in the old testament as the commander in chief of the Israelites going under the name Yahweh. So far as Deities go he was kind of a dick and not the best father figure in the world. Ultimately he abandoned the Israelites for no good reason and has been ignoring humanity ever since, so screw that God. The God of the mystics is the great unexplainable one that famous mystics throughout history have been plugged into. Jesus, Buddha, Lao Tzu, there's a slew of them. The local orthodox authorities, being preoccupied with power, appearances and money coming into the temple were never typically thrilled with the message mystics were selling which was the orthodoxy was crap so they often had the local mystic du-jor killed off to shut him up. Now a days they'd probably frame him in a sex scandal but in those days killing him worked out fine. Either way the orthodoxy God and the Mystic God never got on well together and it's the mystic God of universal love, compassion and infinite wisdom the 21st century seeker is longing for. So far as how to find that God I suggest asking a Buddhist. They seem to know him better than the monotheistic mega faiths do.
Hmmm. I do appreciate this poem, there are way too many people in my small town that get upset at me for thinking about religion and not just accepting it. Religion is a complicated mess. Love this poem!! Well done, keep writing!! :)
I'll match your 'hmmmmmm, hmmmmm' with a Mhmmm.
A thought prokoking poem, which makes plenty of sense to me. Power does indeed corrupt us absoulety.
I like it. I like it alot actually.
I like it so much, this is why this review sucks.
Haha, anyway, nice one Peter :)
Ha Lucifer will see your deception!
Good go at vitriol Peter. Couple of suggestions:
it must be lonely being the only one who's holy ?
you attack the weak who don't believe ,
i think its time you stepped down
i think its time you resigned your position
This poem makes a lot of sense. And I think our questions dramatize our confusion in almost everything that we see or seem to see. I believe you must be having valid reasons which that built the foundation of your philosophical system. While it is true that there is recklessness in youth and the raw feeling of invincibility and immortality is inevitable, those are the same feelings that pushes them through seeking what needs to beknown and in your case, the dogma in religion. I liked your tenacity.

I know, sometimes religion is a crutch. You're very welcome!
I think that you are so courageous, I think that you are really putting yourself on the line by writing these pieces, which if I may say so are rather ego-centred, but then this is not too unusual for your age. I sincerely hope that I am not coming over as too patronising Peter, it is just that perceptions really do change with age and I am over twice your age. Your write with passion and bravely, always with your own convictions.

I must agree to disagree. I don't think it is our "God" that needs to change. It is humanity and its black and white perception. A powerful read nevertheless.
