reliving the memories

reliving the memories

A Poem by Peter H
"

what if we could ?

"

What if we can relive a memory?

Like a video camera rewinding our two year old birthday parties.

What if we can relive our first love and correct mistakes exclusive to us?

Would we be perfect then?

In this way all misfortune could be avoided right ?

But what if misfortune was for the greater good

Why can’t we believe that theirs no meaningless

Misfortune. Everything happens for a reason

Our daily tragedies happen for a reason all

Leading up to an ideal conclusion

So is misfortune really meaningless?

So would reliving a memory be best

What if we spent all of our time in one memory?

What if we became memory addicts, addicted to only the good memories

Would bad memories even exist afterwards would balance even exist?

Would this power spell chaos  or utopia ?

Experience, Learn and move forward, I always think, living in the past can put you in a stale mate! Lovely work as always, Peter!

A short a nice poem. All the words said in a nice tone, with the last stanza summing it all up and still leaving the prominent question with us "Would reliving the memory be the best?" .... after all?

I saw a japanese movie where people were going to heaven and their heaven was to relive their fondest memory of Earth. All the film amounted to was two People in an office Interviewing the dead and what their fondest memories were. It was an interesting film. I know what I'd pick but I'm not saying.

thank you :)
Very interesting and thought provoking piece Peter. And I think you know the answer to the question you posed. Some minor suggestions; in the first stanza the two 'cans' should be 'could' and second stanza second line, Theirs should be there's.

thanks broskie
I really enjoyed this Peter.
"Our daily tragedies happen for a reason all
Leading up to an ideal conclusion" Something about these words really struck a chord with me. I really do believe everything happens for a reason, whether it's from something greater (for those who believe in a higher power, karma, etc) or if it's just for us to finally learn or for someone in the future to learn. So many reasons things could happen.. I would have to say that I DO regret things from my best, but not all of them. Some of the bad I would still keep because if they hadn't happened I don't know where I'd be. This poem makes you think and you make your points in a good way. Well written :)

Anytime :)
the butterfly effect. i personally don't buy into it when people say they have no regrets or that they wouldn't change a thing. i understand all of our failings have intrinsic value and lead up to the cultivation of who we are as human beings. bad things lead to good things. you have to go through hell to get to heaven etc. i like the concept you have posed. thought provoking to say the least. i suspect in the end we would spend so much more time in our memories and trying to fix the past that we would ignore the present and subsequently negate our future. nice work peter.

No matter how much I long to go back, I think it would be a mistake. Once you alter one thing, others would fall in that same line. This one makes me think, Peter. Nice. Angi~

that was the intention :) thank you angi
must be honest, the graphic made me read this writing (we seem to have similar taste)
in my life i often thought of "what if"
but i gave up really wanting to know it
what i definitely would want to do is ... to go back and watch me right in the middle of those memories like in a movie, because with time they each appear to me less explainable
interesting and sympathetic logic, thanks for the read
