Who am i ?

well , um , this one is from way back during my highschool days again when i had this epiphany whiles watching this news segment and i came up with this.

I am conceived through pain 

Raised by your darkness

Weaponized by your religion

I am often  used arbitrarily in the name of justice

Who am I you ask?

 

I’m sure you know me

Every time someone is killed I am there

Every time you take your vile retributions I am there

Every time you do something through your subjective justice I am there

I am there for every act of evil you commit.

 

I am an everlasting cycle like the rain

As long humans exist I will remain 

I can not be killed because I exist within everyone

I admit some men tried but utterly failed.

 

Perhaps I can list them

The philosopher’s of hope

Ghandi , Marley , Jesus and manymore 

there words  of hope hurt me,

Injured me, they violated me but in the very end they all failed to kill me

Who am I? I am the malevolence, hatred , jealously, envy and bigotry

That exist within you and I will never die as long as you exist.

nothing much i'm inexperienced so illuminate me upon my mistakes but as usual don't kill my dreams :)

I had a palpable read. I strongly hold on every line until the last part, it was for the strong want to know who the culprit of every chaos was. The last two lines were strong revelation.

"Malevolence, hatred , jealously, envy and bigotry exist within each of us"
What you have mentioned are considered as vices, innate to every human, but I believe each of us is also naturally disposed to behave right ways and for the right reasons, and feels pleasure in behaving rightly, unless otherwise we lack self control to act that way even knowing what is virtuous.

I've read this was written during your high school days, during younger age I presumed; Peter, I must say : you think beyond your age.

I was guessing who it was until those last two lines. Ha! They do exist within each of us but so long as we don't entertain and access them, we can be righteous. And yes, I like that you wrote this when you were in high school. How many high school students concern themselves with such pressing issues and subjects???

This has some real power. There is always power in the truth, and you expressed vividly and probably accurately, the sentiment of the darker side. Some heavy philosophy this poem carries, and I like how you chose to capitalize each verse for this part of us demands to be heard, and you have done a good job of carrying that voice to us. I like when poetry is not afraid to cast light onto our dark shadows...
