eyes of man

eyes of man

A Poem by Pester D. Finches

Eyes of man

Through the eyes of man, a pigeon
Sits, bloody, bruised, and fearing life.
A horrid rat of city Skies, condemned
The seed of mans cruel tries to take
The world and wring it out and make it dry.
A world to be fixed, a world to be solved,
A world where mysteries are weaknesses
Where to say it is “unknown”, per say
Is to say it is “not there” it is “foolish”.
Where trust withers in the face of facts
Where “thou shalt not” constricts the will
A world devoid of truest love, for they
Have said “too young, too foolish”
While they themselves char the forests
To make way for their cities of fact
They steal and crush the Childs toy
They rip the baby from its mother
They tear at the flowers of love
But when the day is said and finished,
And the sunlight fades from view,
I cry a tear that tells the horror,
That horrible truth, that they are we.

This sadly reminded me of some experiences I have faced in my past. It touched my core. Yet this poem reminds me how there still remains hope of something...someone better to show us the way. Sad, raw, true poem. Very well written!
