Unrequited

Unrequited

A Poem by Persephone

An enigma

Just beyond my grasp

I reach for you

And you are gone

With each day my craving grows

And creates an enormous frustration

This yearning defies all reason

If only it would concede to another

If I was able to surrender

This impossible conquest

I’d no longer be haunted by you

But I am paralyzed

In this awful place of want

Filled with an insatiable hunger

For that which escapes me

Wow, this felt so sincere and the emotion so raw, that by the end of the piece a part of my heart almost ached as if it were me who wrote it, as if I was the one in the position of unrequited love. I think that's the mark of great work, when someone else's writing can make you feel a way you weren't feeling before reading. And though you say you hope to get over your crush soon, enjoy the muse while it's present. :-)

I can relate so well to all your poems, but I think this is one of my favorite :) I had an awful crush on a boy named Chris once... and he wanted nothing to do with me, he thought I was crazy, a stalker. I'm over it now, and I have a boy that I love more than anything, but still, when I see him, I can't help but remember back to the days when he tore me apart. I can feel your emotions are so sincere in this poem, keep writing! And I hope that you will find happiness from this situation soon enough. :)

Thanks!
Perhaps the hunger will linger long, perhaps it will never go. It is something that you learn to live with and carry on. Those we love never really leave us IMHO, you know I have ghosts of my own, my precious. I am not surprised that you had this beautiful writing inside you all these years. As usual, you have perfected something before even trying it. You dazzle my mother's heart!

I think we all have been in this position before. It is one of the most emotional feelings in the world; a true reminder that we are alive. Good luck :)
