No More Princes

No More Princes

A Poem by Persephone

People always tell me,

“Don’t worry dear…one day your prince will come”

I have decided

I don’t want a prince

Princes are spoiled

Entitled

Confused

They play games

And they lie

They pretend to be

Valiant

And Noble

But in reality

They are nothing of the kind

They take what they want

And leave you behind

No I don’t want a prince…

I’d rather marry a king

Kings have responsibilities

They don’t have time for play things

They need a partner

Someone they can trust

A wife they can lean on

To help them with stuff

Kings are mature

Educated

And humble

No more princes for me

I’ll wait for a king

Wow, this is really amazing and an interesting way to say what kind of guy you want. Yeah, I know how it felt to always been told that "One day your prince will come". For awhile, I started to actually believe that but sometimes I highly doubt that these days. But then again, I'm young and still dealing with immature and confused boys. I have to agree that they do play a lot of games, in fact, mind games. It drives me crazy! I think saying you want a "king" instead was such a brilliant idea! I wish I would've thought of that!!! XD Again, wonderful job. Yeah, you'll find your "king" one day. Patience is the key :)

Fairy tales are nice when we are kids but if we want to find real love we need to look in the real world... you certainly want a man, not a guy.. cause man knows who he is and a guy pretends to know.

Haha! I really agree with you, actually. I guess I have been made a victim. I have always preferred princes, but this has changed my mind :)

Haha thanks!
I do not think I ever told you a prince would come! A stable, honest, committed (not institutionalized, of course) man is king enough! and if not, get a horse. Love this poem though. You are so talented and the genuine deal.

I am alone but I am not broken
In the light I stand but overlooked by some other man
I am held together by dreams that maybe one day I'll see.
untouched I am, and time is running thin, yet no one seems to understand that a righteous man is a loving man and that I am.
Lonely is not a definition of what I am
It's a word that defines broken
yet here I stand, untouched and ready to take your hand.
