No More Princes

No More Princes

A Poem by Persephone

People always tell me,

“Don’t worry dear…one day your prince will come”

I have decided

I don’t want a prince

Princes are spoiled

Entitled

Confused

They play games

And they lie

They pretend to be

Valiant

And Noble

But in reality

They are nothing of the kind

They take what they want

And leave you behind

No I don’t want a prince…

I’d rather marry a king

Kings have responsibilities

They don’t have time for play things

They need a partner

Someone they can trust

A wife they can lean on

To help them with stuff

Kings are mature

Educated

And humble

No more princes for me

I’ll wait for a king

Wow, this is really amazing and an interesting way to say what kind of guy you want. Yeah, I know how it felt to always been told that "One day your prince will come". For awhile, I started to actually believe that but sometimes I highly doubt that these days. But then again, I'm young and still dealing with immature and confused boys. I have to agree that they do play a lot of games, in fact, mind games. It drives me crazy! I think saying you want a "king" instead was such a brilliant idea! I wish I would've thought of that!!! XD Again, wonderful job. Yeah, you'll find your "king" one day. Patience is the key :)

Hahahaha, I couldn't help but chuckle a little bit after reading about what inspired this poem. :P

As for the writing itself, I thought it was quite well-written. I like the idea behind it and the way you structure it. Interesting view of things, finally, a woman who's tired of douchebags.

Clever, a king over a prince any day. Maybe we should change it to a king amongst men. Very good write.

Aha, well I know how you feel since being a hopeless romantic has me waiting for a guy to cart me away on his white stallion to some faraway castle... not gonna happen, I might add. I'm still kinda immature always having a crush on the bad guy too or that true love will find me, but all we can do is wait and all that jazz until the right guy (the king) comes along. Superbly well penned write indeed!!! :)

Thank you! I hope you find a king someday! :)
I really love this, its an interesting take on something everyone wants.
Me, for example, ive always been the type for true love and first kiss, and my prince will come someday. But you took that line and really thought about it, turning it into reality and making sense of it, but still ending it in a way to leave ppl like me (dreamers) fanasizing, but now about their kings
very very VERY well written
I absolutely loved it! And into my favorites it goes!

thats why they are so speacial when you find them
I would agree a bar is probably not the best place to find the type of guy you're looking for. I hung out in bars for many years and discovered their not the best place to find a girl either if you're a guy.

You speak with experience and a good head on your shoulders. Soulmates, princes, and "we were meant for each other" are to me spoken by naive people who don't see what's right in front of them.

Keep your eyes open, I'm sure you'll find someone with good character and ideals that are much higher than most of those princes you've had to deal with.

Good writing and a good twist.

I like this. And you're right--you'll never pick up a good man in a bar. No man can find a good woman in a bar, either
