A Poem by Persephone

As I sit on the floor

Buried in an old box on a shelf

A photo stands out among the hundreds

My seventeen year old self stares out at me

Smiling

Little makeup on her face

Bangs in her eyes

No knowledge of worldly things

Happy in that moment

Sitting next to the boy she believes one day she’ll marry

Here

In the present

I remember to value every moment

For years and time go so fast

Wow, this is really amazing! I can somewhat relate since I have a picture in a frame that's beside my bed. It's taken of me and my ex boyfriend Nick. I smile sometimes when looking at it, then there are times I admit that I cry. But I see how happy we were together then now we're only good friends. Thank you for sharing such an amazing and relatable poem :)

The now keeps moving onward, it is the thing that memories are made of. Choices, choices, choices...how can we know what we will look back on with a smile, and what will bring us to tears. That innocent girl has become a stellar woman full of the very best of what matters...her heart will not let her down.

A snapshot (excuse the pun) of a moment in time. Amazing the way you broke down a few seconds into an entire poem.

An excellent portrait of our life's picture. I have that same picture in a box somewhere (without the makeup though...:)

I know! Nothing like traveling through time with photos - thanks for reading!
She is enjoying her reminiscing (sp?). She is in the presence and knows how to appreciate each moment and memory. Good read. pat

Very retrospective Persephone we were and are, but is it nostalgia or regret, I cannot tell...
