A Poem by Periac

pale

thin and wispy

sunken cheeks and eyes moist of dirty tears

naked as name day

here I am sweet love

this is what you wanted

under the strong armor I've hidden well

posed for photos in strong cloaks

appearing less fragile

yet I always held a wall

but now

by bright sunlight I'm seen in truth

sickly and leper like

shaky and thinning

I cringe at the notice of your gaze

worm height less charming

I swore to be your knight

I still swear it

though now I must learn to battle unshielded

the weight of who I want to be immense

and the reality of who I am hurts

but

here I am

I bathe in the tears that I dress my apologetic posture in

all I have left is yours

you need to tend my wounds

for without your touch I'm sure to wither and dry

these words of rollercoaster fury

lashing up lashing down

I held your hand through this pathway with imagined steel greaves

upon reaching our utopia you looked down to see the cool touch of a skeleton

I've read once that bone can be pretty strong

I've also read to not believe everything I read

angel of firm fit brightness

grant me the chance to fight again

the armor may have been big

but it fit

side floor slice
