Blood Rose

Blood Rose

A Poem by Periac

breezy winds landed untimely out the window

inside we played domestic

majestic

but within every fairy's tale

a piper sets a fire

under shadows you bled pure in distant ocean gazes

battle hardened the words less true meaning escape

my sweet sonnet

ever so beautiful

allow my torches to melt away this iced frown

by poisoned echoes you held up preferred within the broken keep

if given the candle of your heart

only if given the candle

my sweet springtime siren

im rickety on this rubber ladder

my gargled pleas reach you in choking tears

outstretched my draining wrists

slipping

feeding the pretty bed of gothic oiled roses

whispers come as silver illuminated streaks across the chiseled face of a mason's drunken masterpiece

they

the melody of campfire and silent goosebumps

look at me now

struggling with this sad attempt of a justified poets lament

indeed I deserve nothing

I've eaten pretty hearts and juggled their gems

my apologies though dressed in a coppery truth still won't recycle

I know my past

I know the storms I've brought

she is an angels wink

and I a mere

jesters dangling rusted tin

playing ridiculous songs in tone deaf awe

to lepers

I like how this dances and goes in the read as a reader gets into the lines of this piece...the end gives this a lasting expression:

she is an angels wink
and I a mere
jesters dangling rusted tin
playing ridiculous songs in tone deaf awe
to lepers
