burned deep within the trees
was a bat named William or "Willy" they teased
he always flew left out of a cave
while the others flew right though not as brave
till one night as the moon was above
he hightailed it left and bumped into a dove
she bent a wing and stumbled on the grass
with his head in a spin he fell next to the lass
"I'm sorry sweet princess, I should've known.
My luck would run out if I stayed alone.
but just so it happened and your a sight to behold.
Let me introduce myself as William the bold."
he wiped out his ears with a hook of his hand
and smiled with fangs that only a fruit bat can
the dove patted her coat as she slowly rose
standing pure and white as fallen snows
"very nice to meet you, but you bent my wing.
so I'm likely to forgive you if you guess my name"
in a moon light chirp I swear thats what she said
I waited and waited
finally shutting my window and heading off to bed...........................
Ah, a tease! What is her name, pray tell?! This was absolutely delightful. It is refreshing to not read about the typical works and enjoy a little tale between a bat and dove. Bravo! This was a pleasure to read.
*giggles* Periac....you crack me up! This was so cute! Like a wee little story of a cat and a mouse almost. Very light-hearted and entertaining. I love it!
