Through the Broken Window

Through the Broken Window

A Poem by Benjamin

Did I die?...did I die?

I see a milky sky and black branches,

crisp against each other

above me, framed by a car window.

Glittering glass, broken, covers

me like sea shells, the ringing

in my ears like waves on a beach.

Everything reaches my ears in a moment,

the pain sears my arms, my legs, my chest,

give me the rest I desire...

Not until the sirens quail and

my body lies soft on white sheets

does the sky leave; my heart beats

faintly.

Interesting, well written. A suicide attempt?
