The Doctor Prescribed You for YouA Poem by BenjaminHe pops pills of essence, his effervescence captured in a capsule; he's high on himself filled full.
Like tiny plastic figurines, the pills crawl deep into his stomach to nest, a rest from the cold outside world.
There's a whole family there now: Mom, Dad and little baby Claire, all share the space, a one room apartment.
Sometimes he wishes them his own kin, housed beneath skin and bone, and he's not so alone with them held inside,
not for now. © 2014 Benjamin |
