Leave No Trace of Past MistakesA Poem by perfectlyadaptedA slowing pulse makes a lullaby of beeps wrapping the most dangerous nightmares in sleep feel the cold creep in on the fingers while there still burns a fever as each synapse sets fire to my past... Today is the day to return everything I held onto, let it burn let it turn to sooty residue, smoke and tears blackened holes appear in many memory photos disappear loved ones melting faces fast each breath now harder than the last letting go would be easy and sweet give some heartbeats, gain relief with the sobering belief
that deceptive simplicity got the best of me the doctors say nothing left to do but pray © 2011 perfectlyadaptedAuthor's Note
