Child-like Wonder

Child-like Wonder

A Poem by perfectlyadapted
"

Oh how we've grown...apart. Oh how those photos lie...

"
Maybe the timing is not right
but I must say
you're a sight for sore eyes
looking too long into a bright sun
with child-like wonder

Maybe I'm not the one that sets your heart
a-flutter
and maybe our relationship hasn't been as smooth
as butter
It was just a rocky road adventure
but all I see is happiness in those pictures

Pictures editing out the bad
none of the bitter
none of the sad
but you put a stop to the illusions, to the dreams
by opening your eyes
looking at the screen
with the wrong timing to see

all of the blood and all of the gore
and all of the horror that was in store
but all the while my hands covered my eyes
I couldn't see all of the lies lurking in the darkness
because my eyes hadn't adjusted
but looking back I must say
we had lost our child-like wonder

Very nice. I like the way you penned an illusion of love. A sad theme done well.
