![]() The DoorA Story by perfectlyadapted![]() It's not really a story. It's me thinking out loud.![]()
What makes a person open that door? Are they weak? That's what I heard someone say once - that they were weak. They don't know what's behind the door, no one does, and yet they turn the knob - that doesn't sound weak to me. Some do it slowly, let the tension build up before swinging it open. Some just go "to hell with it" and bust that sucker down. It happens in horror movies all the time - the protagonist (or next victim) is standing with hand poised right above the knob waiting for it, for the right time. Either the person is a complete idiot (can't you hear the scary music, the spidery violins?!) or they're the most courageous of the bunch (don't do it man we need you to lead us!!). Once you open that door there is no going back. What lies on the other side could be scary as hell or it could be nothing, nothing at all - behind that door could be a complete and total void. Space without stars, without light and life and mystery and awe. There could be just that though - a whole universe only known to those that open the door. So what is it, a weakness or a strength, stepping through that frame into the great unknown? Are they taking the ultimate control or are they spiraling out of control, hitting rock bottom?
They say they're getting better, happier then the next thing ya know they're walking through that door and not looking back. Some people saw it coming and others are shocked, hell some are angry and some are bitter and some are, confused. - she was too young d****t!...he had so much potential!...I'll never see him again...she seemed so...happy...I thought she loved me...I thought he loved me...We loved them so much, didn't they know?!
