Untitled #3

Untitled #3

A Poem by Lexi

We silently drift from our
beloveds.
Intertwined hearts
unravel in a matter of
seconds.
It is inevitable.
People fall apart.
Is time the
great destroyer,
or is it simply life’s reminder
that nothing lasts eternally?
Do we distance ourselves
because we crave detachment,
or due to the pressing fact
that we are aware of
our ephemeral permanence?
We are aware of
our temporary existence.
And although we dread
the partings,
unexpected and not,
our knowledge of
abbreviated time
has failed
to prevent
us
from
constantly
f*****g
up.
