The Perfect Companion

The Perfect Companion

A Poem by Lexi

You, my friend, are old.
Run down, worn out, almost to
the point of uselessness.
Yet here I am,
spending more time with you
than my closest of friends.
You frustrate me,
bringing me to tears on
more than one occasion.
Yet you make me happier than
anything else, happier than
anyone else.
You make me word hard,
harder than any of my teachers
testing my brain with every day that passes.
Yet your lessons preach
the most valuable morals,
the ones that have helped me discover who I am.
You are not a person, but
a wooden case filled with
chipped ivory slabs.
Yet you, my piano, are the best gift
the best teacher
and the best friend that I’ve ever had.

Very well written and the sentimental feelings for your piano just spills beautifully through the words you said. Can't wait to read more.

Lexi,

Amazing, an ode to my piano... brilliantly laid words on page.

I love this poem~

In relation to all relationships in our lives... intriguingly parallel. We all have those times when a relationship seems more than we can handle at times.

Your bio says you are a mediocre writer... I must speak you the truth, because judging from the write you have every single aspect of a great write and that leads to proof that you are a good writer.

The shock effect worked, I was entering into your relationship already making comparisons with empathy - when out of the blue came a surprise. A piano... wow, again, what a switch from the norm.

I really enjoyed this poem; I hope to see it entered into the Love contest from Poetic Infusion Society.

Thank you for your dedication to your piano and your words.

Have a great day,

Legacy
