VulnerableA Poem by Penulis KecilAfter ages of not feeling like writing, this one came to me. Well, to be more precise, a different one came to me, got accidentally deleted and this is the result.In the lightness of day, she
crept past chests of treasures the only key pinned beneath a single claw of a dragon ever vigilant;
draped crushed feather garments over chairs- let the breeze gently un-ruffle battered wings;
hung fairy lights to chase her shadows at night.
Invulnerable in a husk of misrepresentation:
to hide her secrets she has been
blue eyes, dancing eyes silver eyes, sparkling eyes green eyes, merry eyes brown eyes, friendly eyes
even
black eyes, dead eyes.
She has made herself something other:
the fabric of her being a fine-mesh delicate piece of armour,
over lifetimes, she carved herself inside runes of susceptibility but never risked herself so much.
This ancient stratum now exposed, she lies open battered against the elements. © 2012 Penulis KecilAuthor's Note
