Naked Testament

Naked Testament

A Poem by Penulis Kecil
"

Just something cobbled together about denial.

"

Your walls are crumbling.

In the night you paper them up,

a mess of journaling

filling the spaces; sheets

scribbled over and coated in

dreams pressed together,

plastered in sealant, ink stains

spreading into the places

you painted the cracks;

like a tribute to denial

as though belief can sustain

a fragile balance, resurrect

fragments sunk in earth,

your so-solid walls are lies, pillars

to the slings of arrows dashed

upon their boundaries

and all your DIY improvements

nothing but naked testament.

Still, all the while, you go on

filling and plastering and simply

pretend

it doesn't show.

Love the flow of metaphors here, we see him and his broken walls that no amount of filling will ever recover. I like the way you extend the metaphors through the stanzas adding details which has a powerful effect- something I need to do more of lol!
