stone upon stone

stone upon stone

A Poem by Penulis Kecil

deep below, lava rivers bubble

flowing thickly beneath the surface,

the volcano belches a poisonous cloud

of ash and steam

beneath that

i am stone upon stone

upon lava upon stone

around an ocean with a sandy floor

that houses a tiny clam

that houses a tiny world:

stone upon stone

upon lava upon stone

around a tiny ocean

with a sandy floor

that houses

a billion grains of sand

and inside each one

lies a fragment

of a child.

'beneath that
i am stone upon stone'

loved the way you developed the theme. layers of poetry that transcend and find us ultimately human. ;)
