Facebook Quilting I: Rich

Having tackled Cento poetry, I decided to take matters into my own hands. This one is composed entirely of my friend Rich's Facebook updates (primarily statuses but also links and comments).

I suppose that at heart I’m a stoic,

grave and austere.

0.75 mugs of coffee

+1 mug of coffee

Who knew?

 

I disdain success

and failure alike, and regard with equanimity

the vicissitudes of fortune.

 

I'm having a couple of weeks that involve adventures

with prehistoric creatures, fast jets,

monsters from the deep,

neolithic monuments and intrepid,

intelligent and beautiful

companions.

 

I think my life may have intersected

an episode of "Doctor Who".

We are go for Operation Okapi! Repeat,

 

go for Okapi.

 

Today’s soundtrack

would seem to be Emma Pollock’s

“The Law of Large Numbers”.

 

Despite its total lack of conventional

narrative virtues

and my deepening unease

with Bay's attitudes towards

essentially

everything, "Transformers:

Dark of the Moon" still

somehow

manages to be awesome.

 

I guess giant fighting robots

outweigh

most things.

 

Design is the resolution of tensions.

The engine of this bus

sounds like it should be powering

a Firefly-class transport.

 

Today, less is my favourite thing.

Hasn't everyone considered

building their own nuclear reactor

at some time in their life?

 

I find this order of magnitude

scarier than rioting. Sometimes

things need to be torn down,

deeply and comprehensively rethought,

and rebuilt.

 

This

is one of those times.
