i'd zip the cover behind me

i'd zip the cover behind me

A Poem by Penulis Kecil
"

The results of thinking about how much I love sliding into someone else's poetry.

"

inside a poem i found peace.

i wished that i could live in there,

just open it up and slide in.

i'd slip inside the cover

and pull the words close.

i'd wrap myself in them.

if i lived there,

if i could stop this wound

that bleeds itself upon my day

then i could breathe again.

instead i am here, chasing after

someone else's words

in dreams that aren't mine.

i can't seem to stop

the breathing, beating, bleeding.

it's hard not to mind.

ah, words as a refuge. yes.

The wonderfully gentle and uplifting image of 'sliding' inside the refuge of a poem... in contrast with the savagery of reality... the harsh repetition of plosives... the truth hitting 'hard' in the last line. A very very effective poem; pared down to its core, to convey its emotions clearly. Excellent!!
