Tempest

Tempest

A Poem by Penulis Kecil
"

Playing with another nature poem that has dual purpose as a metaphor.

"

It is abrupt when it comes,

this sudden ceasefire;

the air is still thick with threat,

the lady Gaia holds her breath

for the passing of

one heartbeat, two

the lord Zeus splits the pause,

lets loose a sigh of rain;

his fury spent,

slowly the world settles

slides back into

status quo.

This is wonderfully written. It definitely gives life to a lot of mental imagery, and the pauses are very well placed.

I like the way the poem holds the pause before its climax and then 'slides back into status quo' as the moment passes. Intriguing and well-crafted.
