If Only

If Only

A Poem by Penulis Kecil
"

Alas, no amount of imagining or dreaming will bring back a child who has died.

"

If only I believed, still, in peace found

amidst the sanctity of resurrection

I'd rebuild you

from heartache and tears and

all that love left unclaimed.

If I believed, still, in mitigation,

or solace, or the grace of infinity

I would recreate you

from thoughts and memories and

seven years of baby clothes,

unworn.
