The air tasted like salt, I stood on a large rock and looked at the
lighthouse in wonder. The lighthouse reached high up into the sky. I
could see its big bright spotlight; my eyes followed the lights rays out
into the dark horizon. I could hear it moving around, sounding like an
old tractor engine in the distance. The sound of the spotlight was being
drowned out by the crashing of the waves against the shoreline. The
waves were ferociously going in and out; it reminded me of a child
playing with a yoyo. Sometimes the waves splashed over me. The water was
cold as ice and it felt like a sharp and sudden rain shower. I shivered
and quickly zipped up my jacket. I could feel the cold spray of the
mist on my face, as the wind viciously blew my hair. I looked again at
the lighthouse; all I could see was a cloud of gloomy grey mist and a
figure of a person standing by the spotlight. My heart began to beat
faster and faster. I gasped for air; I got the feeling that something
wasn’t right with the lighthouse. I looked back up at the spotlight, the
figure had vanished. I hoped that my eyes had been playing tricks on me
and there had never been a person up there. I turned around and I
quickly jumped off the rock. As I was heading back home, I saw an old
fisherman standing by the door to the lighthouse. I stopped and looked
at him. He stared at me. The expression on his face was blank. The rain
started to fall harder and a strike of lightning lit the sky. The light
from the lightning made the man’s face more clearly. His clothes were
covered in blood. Another strike of lightning revealed that he was
holding a meat clever. I gasped and began to run towards my car. I only
glanced behind me once; I could see the fisherman walking quickly after
me. I finally reached my car. As I shut the door the man appeared by the
side window. His eyes were black. He had an evil grin on his face. As
he lifted the meat clever up, ready to smash my window. I managed to
start my car and make a getaway.
