Short Story: (A Zen koan) Who are you, when you are not being you?

A Story by zennedpen
"

A Zen master tests his students with a koan about themselves. The sun warms itself from itself too.

"

Zen koan: Who are you, when you are not being you?

The Zen Master, Lorich Gerploskerty, asked this above question to his students.

And these were the various answers that he got from them:

One student said:

"You are being the false you."

Another student said:

"You are dead."

Still, a third said:

"That is impossible. We are always ourselves."

I will take one more answer, the master said.

The last student then said:

"God can put our soul in our body, or in his oven, but that does not cook his bread, for him, until we cook it for him."

The old master smiled, as he said to his students.

"Those are all good answers, but the thing is you are only you, when you are not you."

"Then, you are God."

"The real you in God, is the real God in you."

"To be really you, you must be you in God, in God, not you in God, in you, or you must be God in you, in God, not God in you, in you."

"God is all. You are not all you on your own."

"You owe your all to your being your all in God."
