Door Bell

Door Bell

A Poem by Jessica

Alone she waits for something, anything,

Praying and hoping that this will be over,

Hour after hour the silence grows till it is unbearable,

She looks for an escape,

The choice is not pleasant,

She reaches for a gun,

Her heartbeat echoes in her head,

The cold barrel rests at her temple,

The boom, boom, boom grows louder in her head,

Tears pour down her lifeless cheeks,

Her index finger dances around the trigger,

Her hand is violently shaking,

She attempts to clear her mind,

But to no avail, his voice keeps playing inside her head like a broken record,

The pain in her heart makes her cry harder,

She raises her arm higher,

One, two, -,

Her count is interrupted by buzzing,

She flips her phone open and sees his name,

She ignores it,

The doorbell rings repeatedly ruining the moment,

As she opens the door he whispers an out of breath I love you as he takes her into his arms and out of Death's cold reach.
