How come it was me?

I would like to give you a tale that you will never forget. It will have some very hard parts in it, but I know that my sister story needs to get out because if it does not then she will be forget in time and there will be nothing anyone can do about that.

You would always hear my parents say that if you ever wanted to find my sister. You would be better off going into the fields for she would sit there for hours on end watching the wolves playing at a safe distance from her.

I went over to my parents house and asked if I could see my sister. They told me right off the bat that she was in the field.

“Please son could you try and get her to come home. She has a few things that she needs to do around the house,” my mom said

I looked at my mom like she had lost her  mind, but I knew I was probably the only one who could talk to my sister that she would listen to also. I walk slowly into the field as in order not to frighten the wolves away. Yet what I saw next was something I will never forget in my life. The wolves had gotten so comfortable with my sister that they had come up to her. I stopped about three feet away. I felt completely shocked I really didn’t know what I had actually seen.

I slipped down to the ground very slowly in order and hopeful in order not to scare the wolves away. I must have sat there without moving for at least an hour or two. When the wolves finally ran off and I heard my sister was softly crying. I knew that was not a good thing. I was afraid the wolves had hurt her.

I got up and walked over to my sister and  sat down next to her. She took me by surprise and wrapped her arms around me. I had no clue what was going on.

“Rose what is wrong? Did the wolves hurt you?” I asked

“No, Ash they didn't hurt me at all. Our mom and dad are slowly pulling away from each other. I don’t know what I am suppose to do. I am afraid something bad will

happen,” said Rose

I really didn't know what I was suppose to say to that. I couldn't see what my little sister was see in my parents, but then again I really didn't live with them twenty-four seven. So I would not know what was going on in their lives.

“Rose mom said that you need to come back to the house for she said you have chores that you need to do,” I said

She gave me the most scared look that I had never seen on her face. It looked out of place on her face. I felt like something was wrong, but I didn’t know what though.

“Ash I am sorry, I want you to know that I love you. That you are my rock through everything,” said Rose

After that she got up off the ground and head toward the house. I sat there completely unsure what to do with everything that had just been said. I then got up off the ground and head back to the house. I was stopped right before I go head back into the house by my father.

“Son I don’t want you to come around here anymore. You have a life of your own. You need to start living it and stop worrying about us and your sister. I want you to just forget all about us. If we need your help we will send for you. Now please leave my property,” said Dad

I got back in my car and head start back into town. I only looked back once, but I did have a bad feeling that something was going to happen. Yet how could I do anything to stop it through.

It was a couple year later when I finally decided that I would go back to my family’s house to see how they were doing. When I got there I was in complete shock. I didn't even see the same home I had grown up in at all.

I went up to the door and knocked. I didn't live there so I figured I had no right just to walk in either. It was about a couple minutes later when someone came to the door. I barely even knew that it was my mother.

“Mom what happened to you? Where is dad? Where is Rose?” I asked

“Ash I am so sorry. I should have never allowed it to happen. I should never had allowed your father to talk me into it. Ash your father sold your sister to a man in order to pay the bills on the house. He died a couple of year ago. I just can’t live with my regret anymore.”  said mom

I just stood there unsure what I was suppose to feel or even say. Before I could ask what my mother knew she had shut the door right in my face and refused to answer the door again. I knew now that I was screw there was no way I was going to be able to find out where she was.

I head back into town. I drove to my house which was maybe a block or two from the market. That is what I did hoping that I would some how be able to ask people in the market if they knew a girl name Rose.

That was when I saw someone taking a loaf of bread for one of the stands. I knew what happened to people who was caught.

“Excuse me sir, This is my daughter would like this loaf of bread. How much does it cost?” I asked

I was told the price and I give the loaf to the girl. I had to take a second look and I knew right off the bat that was my sister. I want to say something to her to make her stop from running away. That I want her to come home with me to let me protect her. Yet the only thing I could do was give her my address and only hope for the best.

It was around 1 am when I heard a very loud knock on the door. I had not gone to bed since I was wait for her to come to me. I was just about to head to bed when a maid came to me.

“Sir there is this young lady with what looks like a child. She told me you gave her your address and told her to come to you. Should I bring her to you,” asked the maid

“Yes,” I said

There was only a minute between when the maid left me and brought me the girl. I about fell to the ground. My sister had come back to me.

“Please sir can you save my baby girl. She is all I have left. Please save her,” she said

I took the child from her arms and realize at that moment the child was died. I  look at her at her and told her that she was gone. I saw her start to break down in tears.

“Mama can you tell me what happened to you and your child,” I asked

“Sir my parent sold me to save themselves. My brother had left the day he told me mom need me.  I was raped from the age of ten until I was nineteen when I final ran away from the man the sold me to. I gave birth to my daughter Mia. I was hoping that someday that I could give her a life besides hiding in alley ways hope the man wouldn't find me. That I would some day be able to find my brother Mia uncle. I never did though. I must go, thank you for everything,” she said

I stood there completely shocked and before I was able to say anything I saw her running out of my house. I ran after her. I wasn't too long before I caught up to her and saw she had been stabbed.

I grabbed her just as she was falling. I saw tears rolling down her face. I knew she didn't have long. So I knew what ever I need 

to say to her or else she would never know.

     “I know who you are. Your name is Rose and I am sorry you went through all of this. I am your brother….,” I said

I felt my sister reach up and touch my face and she smiled. It was like the only thing I could have done for her. Then I saw her take her last breath. I cried I held her and rocked back and forth hoping that is was not true, but I knew it was.

I took her back to my house and laid her and her daughter Mia in two graves right behind my house. I knew that I was really the only one who would have save and help my sister.

I was told about two months later my mother had past away and I was no the only one who could say what would happen to their property. I found out that my mother had shot herself. I knew she could no longer drown her guilty in the alcohol.

I went back to the house that had held so many happy memories for me. I walked to the field where I had last saw my sister. Sure enough I sat down and just waited. Then I saw them. The wolves that my sister loved so much. I just cried as I watch the wolves be so care free and play.

I cried so hard that I was afraid that I would scare off the wolves. Then all the wolves stop playing and just look at me.  I didn't know what was going to happen. That was when I saw a pure white wolf come out from behind the pack. The wolf was slowly make it way toward me. I stilled then I saw the wolf also had a little white wolf following. They both came right up to me. The white wolf looked me right in the eyes and then put it head on my knee. The pup look at the white wolf and then looked at me. The wolf then looked at the pup and all the sudden the pup ran the rest of the way and jumped into my lap.

The pack just stood there and then turned away and head back into the wood. The white wolf and her pup didn't follow for a bit. Instead they stay with me.

I started to cry for I had never felt so much love then I did in that moment. The white wolf then picked up her head and licked my face. She and her pup then looked at me once and then head back to the woods.

That was all I need to know the white wolf and her pup. They were my sister Rose and her baby girl Mia. I knew and felt at peace. My sister Rose was back with the wolves that she had loved so much. That she was finally home and that no one could ever hurt her again.

I knew then what I need to do. I sold my house in the town and moved into the house I had grown up in. I was not going to allow anyone to move on this land and possible kill these beautiful wolves.

I asked my maid the most difficult question that I could ever ask her.

“Star if I should ever die would you be willing to take over this house and live in this house. That you won’t give this house to anyone unless it is in your family who understand the importance of this house and the wolves?” I asked

“Master Ash I understand the importance of the house, but why the wolves?” Maid Star asked

“Star the importance of the wolves are that there is a wolf and her pup who is much different then the whole pack. They are my sister Rose and her daughter Mia. She has finally back home to the only home she ever knew,” said Ash

Then Maid Star just looked at me and I knew right then that this could go two ways. I was afraid that she wouldn't do as I asked. To my surprise she told me.

“Master Ash I would be more then honor to take over this house if you should ever died. I shall only give it to someone who understand the importance of both,” She said

“Thank you Star,” I said.

I knew now that if I was to died the next day then I could died happily since I had someone who would protect my sister Rose and her daughter Mia.

I went back to the field after that and wait. I didn't have to wait long before Rose and her daughter showed up once again.

“Rose I want you to know that I am sorry that you had to go through what you did. I should have been here to protect you, but I wasn't. I was told after getting you to go to mom that I was no longer welcome to come. That they would call me if they need me. I came back home a couple years later and saw mom and how what she did had killed her. That was when I start to look for you even before then I looked for you. I was never able to find you. I am sorry you had to go through everything you did. Rose I want you to know that I love you,” I said

I had to stop there for a few moment cause the tears where streaming down my face so much it was hard to talk. She came up to me and laid down and put my head on my lap. I knew then I need to finish what I need to say.

“When I say you right before you was stabbed I felt like it had been my fault all this had happened to you. That I should have looked hard. Basic Rose I blame myself. I know I shouldn't. I am just grateful that you are finally at home and happy. You are with the family who love you no matter what.  I made sure that no one will get this land unless they promise and understand the importance. I am glad that you where able to become a wolf. You loved them so much,” I said

That was when I stopped once again and allowed the tears to roll down my face even more. She looked up with me with so much love. I felt like she understood every word that I had said. I was happy that she knew the truth now.  All the sudden I felt a little tap with some thing on my hand. I looked down on my right side and saw Mia. It was like she wanted to be part of this. I looked at Rose as to ask her permission to pick up her baby. Sure enough the look she gave me said I could.

I gentle pick up Mia and sure enough when she was in my arms she crawl up and was very happy. I felt this over flow of joy it was like I finally had the family I always wanted.

“Mia I want you to know that I am your Uncle Ash. I am sorry you had to past away at such a young. That was not right of that to happen to you. If I could go back to change what happened to you and your mother I would in a heart beat. You both deserved to have a better life then what you had. You should know Mia that your mother would sit in these fields and watch the wolves play. It seem to me that was the only time that I had ever seen her truly happy. I am glad that she was able to return to her family. I am sorry that I was never able to meet you Mia and learn about you,” Ash said

Mia looked at me with the most sorrow in her eyes it was like she knew that it was nothing I could do though. Yet she also gave me the look like at least now you have me and my mom. We will never leave you and you will never leave us either.

I looked at them both with so much love in my eyes. I knew that I would never want to lose them again. Rose pick up Mia from my arms and looked at me as saying goodbye.

I understand at that point it was their time to go home. I went every day that my body had allowed me to. Even when my body didn't allow me to I would sit on the front porch and Rose would bring Mia up to see me I would tell them all about my day. I knew that no matter what at least I had family who loved me.

I even had Rose and Mia meet Maid Star. They love her right off the bat. It was like Star was the mother Rose never got really. The aunt for Mia that she would have never had.

“Rose and Mia Star will take my place if I ever do past on. I know that it won’t be long no before I am called home. When that  happens she will be taken my place. Please Rose and Mia treat Star with the same respect you have with me.”

Then I looked at Star.

“Star I want you to introduce the person who will be taken your place so that Rose and Mia will know who that has the house,” I said.

I said once again good bye to Rose and Mia. So did Star and we both watch them walk back into the field to head home. This time it was different. I watch them disappear into the field. Not like they was out of sight, but like a ghost. I knew what that meant was there were there as to make sure that I knew I was loved. It that made me smile even more.

I just hoped that someday when I did past that I would be able to join my sister Rose and her baby girl Mia as a wolf.
