Absence

Absence

A Poem by peculiar

Emptiness.
A constant chasm, I believe resides within each person.
An absence so dense, it's exhumes a presence undeniable.
It swells and overwhelms
Infiltrating every thought and emotion

Until we are overcome
By the restless anxiety
That grips one that is drowning,
Squirming for air.
For he knows that one gasp of breath
Is enough to make the pressure in his chest subside.

Similarly, we seek our escapes.
As we try to fill that internal void.
Cramming in anything that might satiate the hollowness inside.
Liquor, drugs, lust, love, money, food, god, power, fame
Temporary relief from our internal pain.

But in the end it all remains the same
For there is no escaping what dwells within.

I completely agree! There is definitely an emptiness within myself. You hit it on the nail. I wish there was something that could feel the void, but everything that I try to feel the void with, seems to make the void that much bigger. Thanks for your expression.

I agree that we all look for that one thing to make us forget what it is we're going through. However, I must disagree that G-d isn't one of them. Haha. He's always been there with me - through the bad AND the good. Most people only turn to Him during the troublesome times in their lives. Seems a bit comical to me.

As for your poem, it was well written with no punctuational or grammatical errors; at least, none that I saw. Very nice work!

P.S. If you wouldn't mind checking out my novel, HIM, I'd truly appreciate it. I'm looking to have it published but won't do so until I get as much feedback as I feel necessary. (:
