I Never Knew I Learned From You

I never knew love until I met you
I never knew trust until I gave it to you
I never knew loyalty until you offered it to me
I never knew the good things until you came and told me.

A lot of things you told me
A lot of times you made me happy
A lot of things I learned from you
A lot of things I never thought I'd do.

But as much as all those positives you've told me
You've also shown me the negatives that stung like a bee
And all I could do is wait and see
If by the end of it all, I'd still be me.

I learned that love hurts when you left me
I learned that trust breaks when you betrayed me
I learned that loyalty is fickle when you took it back from me
I learned the bad things when I had to do nothing but set you free.
