Where I'm FromA Poem by AmandaA little piece of me :)I am from crayons from paper and pencil. I am from the playgym in the backyard. (Wood, handbuilt, it sounded like that one creaky stair.) I am from Maple Leaf Country. The hockey sticks which I held to play, I remember as if I was any good.
I'm from doughnuts and hammers from Herb and Lisa I'm from the Mr-Fix-Its and the Little-Miss-Craftys from Sit straight! and Stand tall! I'm from the Girl Scout Camp down the street with a warm fire and thirty swaps I made myself.
I'm from neighborhood farms and close-knit families, movie nights and chocolate cookies. From the appendix I lost in eighth grade, the pancreas that quit in tenth.
On my wall are posters bearing browned maps, a collection of seperate lands to fill up my bucket list. I am from those travels- reminders of others among us- a small part of a big world. © 2012 AmandaAuthor's Note
