Gravity of Small Truth

Gravity of Small Truth

A Poem by peacemilk
"

If spirituality was brought to humanity instead of sought by individuals.

"

And the Lord was created

at the junction where time ends

and begins; born from the goodness

of man and the possibility of

his divinity.

He smiled upon earth,

willing that all of humanity would

unite to feel him, to accept

all his mystery; and the beauty

of these mysteries overthrew them --

held them down, pushed them to ground

with the ultimate gravity of small truth.

Humanity felt the weight of evolution upon them

and knew they were not alone --

that they had lived through millions of years

and millions of lives and deaths to

exist as they do now.

They had all forsaken love because they

thought it made them weak -- that through

kindness, gentleness and trust

they would likely lose more

than they could ever gain; when they

understood that they were

greater than their bodies, as deep

and firm as the ground they stood upon,

vulnerability could not exist, and love was free.

Each one of them recognized that

the Lord has no throne, that his essence lives

within them all, and he is no more than them,

no more than the height of what

their souls can achieve.

One day the universe shall welcome them

within its fathomless expanse,

in every corner, in nothingness and

somethingness, and they shall

know eternal truth outside of time.

They knew then, and they will all

experience it: that life flows on into death,

like blinking into sleep, and they accepted peace

on earth at last; for this life, as is the truth

of all living, is blessed and cursed

and it is only preparation for

what comes after.

What sacred words of life arise from each line, of the world awakened by all that is holy. Beautiful words that make each breath feel more divine.
