Things Will Change

Things Will Change

A Poem by peace_love_faith

The rain pounds against my window
The wind roars through the fireplace
The trees stand tremulous, alone
The stars in the night sky are erased

Somehow these morose, gloomy events echo
What is inside the chambers of my own heart
Yet, I seem to remain calm and mellow
Even though I know deep down I'm falling apart

But I know things will change
They have to change
I can't stay this way

The rain will patter against my window
The wind will bluster gently through the fireplace
The trees will stand together in the meadow
The stars will gleam in their rightful place

Times change
Seasons come
Seasons go
Winter is behind us
Spring will soon be near

What is dark in December
Will be light in March
I'll leave my heartbreak
Right here in the past
And march forward, heart open
Moving on to better things
Better places, happier faces
My memories of how happy
We used to be, still deceive me
But it's no use holding on any more
One day, I will let go
One day, I will move on
