Deserted Cove

Deserted Cove

A Poem by pdc

White sand
Clear water
An horizon unseen

Quiet
Deserted
Save for you
Save for me
Save for a large tree
One that marks its origin before you and me

We sit
Our chairs touching
Much to be seen
Lovers and other strangers
No longer resting in-between

I with my book
pages spread with one hand
As you consider the tree
A book upside down on your knee

A pole for fishing
Cast with no care
Rests in one hand
Pointing far into the air

We are at peace
We are in love
We are one deep within

I move
You jar
Your head slowly turns
I move
You smile
Producing a sly grin

I rise
I walk
I move toward the tree
I climb
I fall
Looking free

I fall through branches
Familiar handholds
I fall through daylight
To the water below

I make no sound
As I enter her depths
I make no sound
She tenders no regrets

Rising to the surface
She lets me be
Allows my journey back to thee

Walking now
Testing my resolve
I move forward
With my all

Blocking the sun
As I arrive at your feet
You smile then wait
For our lips to meet
