Reflections of a Mind Unstable

Reflections of a Mind Unstable

A Poem by a_glimpse_of_internal_perspective

A mastery of solitude,
Seeking but a glimpse of internal perspective.
A restless mind,
Procuring constant stifled action.
Wherein there lies critical self-reflection,
Is also a deep sense of purpose,
Unbound by the constraints of practical reason.

Rooted in passion,
And realized through persistence,
Each day becomes shaped by the struggle to find balance.
Unconventional are the tactics,
Thereby soon developed,
To rear all potential into concrete possibility.

The hours of the day
Have an alliance with inherent responsibility.
Leading most into structured patterns,
And leaving others to question their ability to stay afloat.
It is in the company of nightfall, however,
That allegiance is only necessary
To the expectations of one's self.

While most rest their eyes,
Both for needed sleep
And their use for judgement,
There exists a period of time
Unique to all temporal reality.
Moments to regain control
From the day's mighty grasp.

Overcast day... touch of rain and poignancy. Coffee - a moment of decision.

A difference of concept and view having an intent masked within its seeming openness. I have sat in cafes where extra tables were pulled in to form instantaneous and impromptu gatherings to just talk and listen. This work DOES the same thing - its an invitation for another to be near and to share your existence - if only for a moment.

I esp like and relate to the last verse because I am a crushed salaryman, work bludgeons my eyes, which are often totally screwed. It is as if I have no judgment because of this. I exist from one corporate day to the next, struggling to do it their way. 'Moments to regain control' are just that, moments. I read the last line as 'The system's mighty grasp.' The life tiredness this produces is cumulative over the years. But if we are lucky we do not give in to it, preserve ourselves in our cores until we can be ourselves in a more honest way. Great write as it made me think and feel.

Rooted in passion,
And realized through persistence,
Each day becomes shaped by the struggle to find balance.
This actually sounds like a stable mind.
Well penned.

The mind never rests, it feeds on thought to produce thought, always, or as long as mortality agrees to, and may be even after, who knows?

Thanks for a deep, inducing write.

I guess you portrayed a writer very profoundly......................but true stability is just a step away from instability and its right next to it ( or to be precise a next destination passing through instability). Rightly said............. Solitude is essential in any field to excel....be it writing , music, academics or more. The unrest eyes shows the passion and determination which is the fuel for explosion...........................................Very nice thoughts in the poem. I really loved it ....keep up the great work :-)

"Each day becomes shaped by the struggle to find balance" You put this truth so elegantly onto the page. Wonderful musing and expression.

The writer's problem when she/he has a day job. Larkin would have nodded his head at this one.

I presume you do your writing at night or at least the thinking that preceeds the writing. It seems like something a writer might do. It's a luxury even to have a moment of personal time to reflect or create. A necessity to some like writers but a luxury nonetheless.

Seems to smack of self reflection. Held captive by the day and laying in wait for for the ashes of nightfall to bring relief. What an interesting way to perceive a mirror. Of course I could be way off the mark. For me this was a very enjoyable read.
