You Do

You Do

A Poem by Jamie Beals

Why was I not good enough for you?

What was it that I didn’t do?

Was I just not young enough for you?

What more could I possibly do?

Was my face just not pretty enough for you?

Why do you do the things you do?

Did I not measure up in the things that I do?

Tell me, who else could love you the way I do?

I am just not the one for you

Yet, I was good enough to screw you!

Pure joy is what you say I gave you,

Yet I’m still not good enough for you?

In another you think you’ll find what I give you

Back to another I’ll give what I gave you

He appreciates what was not good enough for you

And we both know you’re a fool for what you do.

This is the first time I have tried this. Every line ends in either you or do.
