Pandora's Box

Pandora's Box

A Poem by Jamie Beals

You left her, but you left me too

And now you don’t know what to do

You say you are lost

And I must suffer the cost

It’s yourself that you must find

So you’ve locked yourself inside your mind

Away from me everything you have taken

Because the core of you has been shaken

You say your love for me has not been forsaken

But the broken parts of you have just been overtaken

It’s not fair to me to only have part of you

And that justifies what you are putting me through

You can’t see or understand how much it hurts

Or the deep painful hole in me it inserts

You have taken away all your affection

And we have lost our special connection

We no long kiss, we no longer touch

I can’t believe it hurts this much

How can you just decide one day

These are the things I am taking away

And I have no choice but to say it’s ok

For if I don’t, you may not stay
