Houston's Rat Problem

Houston's Rat Problem

A Poem by skye

The city rats were trying to tear me apart.
give me their diseases.
kill me.
but i found my way out of the sewer,
away from the filth and vermin that thrive down there with only a few scratches and bite marks.
i know it sounds crazy,
but i think the rats are following me.
im safe in my home but i hear them shouting bad things from a distance,
like they're right outside watching me.
there was once a time i lived with the rest of the scum in the sewers,
then i decided to clean myself up and get out.
but i can still hear their shouting,
their claw marks on my front door,
and once in awhile a glimpse of them stalking in the shadows.
the city rats want to tear me apart.
soon the pesticide will arrive in the mail.
