Loner's Lament

Loner's Lament

A Poem by Alexis Turner

What a soft bed I have made for me

With dreams and schemes stitched in

My what time it has been since we

Had such a bed made bare

But there I go on, joking again

I can’t help myself but to grin

Always getting caught in the bed and then

I forget I forgot to find you there

Where the sheets are so straight

The covers tucked to keep tight

That spot I saved where you would wait

It’s nice a cool and simply fixed

For languid seat at sandman’s feast

The pillow fluffed for long good night

Somewhere is lost this one last piece

Lonely rest for chances missed

If I make it better for next sunset

Maybe I’ll be then for someone met

Although it’s still none as yet

not sure which is worse, a bed never shared or a bed no longer shared... either way all we have are dreams and or remembrances... enjoyed reading your poem Alexis. thanks for sharing it..
