The Reverie

The Reverie

A Poem by Alexis Turner
"

a sonnet

"

But again the dream is broken by day

That shines through the cracks in the memory

Soon the night's illusion will end its stay

And content breaks under reality

After the summit has been championed

How can I bare to wander the basin

That yesterday could leave me lifted

And now stretches on in delirium

My mind balks in the shade of its specters

The reverie past but still more present

Than anything today engenders

Towards its visage are all of my thoughts bent

I need to remember the way we met

And her colors, as if I could forget
