So You've Looked Inside

So you've looked inside

to find a singing tree that speaks for everyone

somehow grown from facts about faces in the family albums.

Beyond that there is

what we all hold in common,

murky depths inhabited by legendary

monstrous, and

bliss rising the luminous infinite--

Life stories, darkening waters,

the power of light--what else is there?

No use pretending.

Author's Note

M. Kay Basel
in answer to the question is it okay for the writer to use autobiography. One good example of a successful poet who does so with great affection for every detail of his life is Jim Daniels. His work is not self absorbed at all. His authentic voice that draws clearly every memory lets the reader participate in his gratitude for all things.

For some it how they "learn" about themselves. For some - excuses, for some - reasons, for a few - insights to Being AND others.
