The Cauldron of Black DreamsA Poem by Paul WallaceI kind of just realized...I am starting to make a little nothing world with the poems The Kingdom That Never Was, The Heart of Empty Melodies, and The Cauldron of Black Dreams
Hidden in the Kingdom That Never Was
Inside a mountain that isn’t there
Found inside a crystal cave
And surrounded by dark mist
The cave sparkles like the stars
But mist holds back its beauty
Only found by spirits and dreams
It is kept away from life it self
It holds the deadly dreams we have
Keeping us from falling into them
It lies atop a craggy pedestal
Slightly beating like a gloomy heart
The cauldron glows a black tint
Polished well, but by no one
Dreams like darkness swirl inside of it
Trying to get out of its prison
The dreams flow like water
Yet kill for the love of death
This simple bowl holds them back
It holds the horrid dreams from life
Demons hide inside these dreams
Ready to destroy the dreamer
Such things could not be stopped
By any real object or thing
The power of nothing pulls these dreams
They are banished to the cauldron
It is never thanked or given love
Simply keeping life together
It is the humans’ night guardian
It is the Cauldron of Black Dreams
