Promises

Promises

A Poem by Paul Terrell
"

The words used to betray ourselves

"

Will we lose the hope and all control

If you hold on

I'll hold on

After tastes and after thoughts

Of words that fell from sharpened tongues

To bitter lips lost in the moment

And we didn't me to harm

But words will cut like razorblades

And hearts will break like glass

So here we stand

Bled out and shattered

And the coyote calls our smiles

Two great actors

Obvious and faking it

As we repeat our favorite lines

If you hold on

Then I'll hold on

And we'll try this one more time.
