dont need you

dont need you

A Poem by Moebia

im starting to realize
that i dont need you
i just really really
want you
kind of like how
our bodies crave
the things that
are bad for us
you're my own
personal cigarette
been poisoning myself
with you, for too long
why do i want you
why am i so invested in you
when all you have done
is fill my eyes with liquid sadness
and driven me to do things i didn't want to
you made me break promises
i knew i could keep
why do i want you
you made the scar that's
sitting, pink and fresh
on my pale arms
why do i want you
i keep telling myself
that i dont need you
but im trying to understand
why those words ring false
in my voice.
i don't need you

Thank you so very much!
You aptly describe how some relationships become a twisted knot:

you're my own

personal cigarette

been poisoning myself

with you, for too long
