swallows

A Poem by paul

a thinking mind
swallows me

like the land

swallows the sea

the twinkling river
mirrors

the stark city.

this is so imagist. the land swallowing the sea. so many things there... the encroaching of man over the wilder world... and then put that against the already contrasting images of the loveliness of a twinking river.. moving, full of light, another body of water... and a stark city. more land and man ... does that make you the ocean?

Dang Paul, this is a long one.
I really dig the images and the thoughts that are generated by these words.
Awesome, as ever.

These images and the way you reflect about them is very fascinating. Your thinking mind is a twinkling river on which poems float.

One could read this anytime, anywhere and would still be defined by it.

i always thought of it as the sea swallowing the land, i guess it is the half full, half empty thing..depends on the point of view.

but if you watch the tide, the waves, they tend to gulp the land...even when in retreat.

this is a dreamy little thing you have posted here. good for you, i loved it

This one twirls like a top. The images just spiral into each other. A thinking mind swallows me, too. And mirrors can never really be trusted.

aj's mind astounds me, I was stuck on birds, the power of a well-placed title, this is one of those tall poems that you could read over and over and always find something new to marvel at
