this is so imagist. the land swallowing the sea. so many things there... the encroaching of man over the wilder world... and then put that against the already contrasting images of the loveliness of a twinking river.. moving, full of light, another body of water... and a stark city. more land and man ... does that make you the ocean?

aj's mind astounds me, I was stuck on birds, the power of a well-placed title, this is one of those tall poems that you could read over and over and always find something new to marvel at
