hopeful (unhopeful)

hopeful (unhopeful)

A Poem by paul

hopeful lovers
waited
for calls
that
never came

wind chased quiet

up close the river
put on
a much better show
than the stars

the clouds
impersonated a painting

and this hopeful
lover turned his back

and walked off
into the night

. you're the greek god of remarkable brevity ... profound poetry ... and mesmerizing imagery ... this is just incredibly poignant ... how i wish i could make the phone ring ... how i wish i could be the river ... the clouds ... the painting ... and make sure no lover ever turned his back on love ... shockingly amazing title ... stunning poetry ... brilliant first line ... captivating poem ... and a heart-breaking end ... now if this ain't perfection personified ... i dunno what is ... thank you for being a poet, paul ...

that night
the night was shamefully barren
never quite able to conceal
the scar on his back
and the hole in his being

he, of course, was cursed
by the bravery born in heartbreak

his steps never ceased
and the only thing the night was
able to do

was hide his face
the one time he turned to look back

profound and magical - i agree with serah - and that shade of pain - in his footsteps - it just melts the stars -
